Amelia Goldsmith is a TikTok influencer from London, UK, who went on a hunt for shoppers who might be in need of some help in paying for their groceries.

While she insisted she had nothing but good intentions in mind, the young lady was “taken aback” and left in tears after her plans fell into the water and none of the people she approached wanted to have anything to do with her.

“So I am here at Sainsbury’s, I’m going to buy someone’s food shop today because it’s Wednesday – I just wanna cheer someone up. Mid week slump,” Amelia said in her viral video.

“Guys I’m nervous. I just hope they don’t look at me thinking like I’m some weirdo. I’m scared.”

Moments later, the influencer entered the store and approached several people with her proposition only to be turned down by all of them.

“I feel so embarrassed and judged,” she added as she claimed everyone was “staring” at her after one shopper reacted angrily to her idea.

“That was stressful guys. That was really stressful. I felt really like in panic mode.”

Amelia continued: “I don’t know. I felt like I was expecting someone to be, you know like overjoyed and grateful and happy for me to pay for their shopping. But obviously that didn’t go down well.

“I was a little bit like taken aback. I think I’m going to cry to be honest. And like the second person looked at me like I was some kind of absolute idiot and weirdo. She didn’t say anything. But she was really like ‘no, no, no’ sort of stern.”

After Amelia’s video went viral, internet users were left divided. While some suggested she didn’t deserve to be treated that way, others insisted that the shoppers had all the right to react defensively considering she was filming them during the alleged act of kindness.

“Such a lovely gesture, some people just don’t know how to appreciate nice things,” someone said.

“To be honest I could use the money but I wouldn’t accept your help either if you were shoving your phone in my face in attempt to get views on social media,” another argued.

A third wrote: “Next time do it without filming, not everyone wants their face to end up on the internet.”
