A mother has divided the internet after wearing a wedding gown to her daughter’s wedding.
The incident presumably took place somewhere in Australia where a mom wore a $8,000 Norma And Lili Couture wedding gown to the wedding of her daughter.
After the big event, the mother put up the dress for sale on Facebook marketplace and branded the piece as an “evening mother of the bride dress.”
In pictures from the ceremony, the mother could be seen standing next to her daughter and holding her hand while dressed in a wedding dress similar to that of the bride.
After the photos went viral on a wedding shaming group, many baffled viewers accused the mother of overstepping the boundaries and trying to steal her daughter’s limelight.
“You just know she was bridal dress shopping with her daughter and saw this dress, and immediately bought it before anyone could stop her,” someone wrote.
“She wouldn’t be allowed at my wedding, I don’t care who she is,” another said.
A third joked: “My daughter would have killed me if I bought that for her wedding.”
Some viewers, however, rushed to the mom’s defense saying the move to wear the wedding dress to her daughter’s big day could have been inspired by the family’s culture and tradition.
“It’s quite common for Lebanese mothers to wear white dresses like this to their daughter’s weddings,” one woman explained.
“This is a cultural thing in Lebanon. I’ve only ever attended one Lebanese wedding and I was shocked when I saw the mother of the bride in a white,” another said.
A third wrote: “Norma and Lily are one of the top Lebanese designers in the industry – I’m surprised she only paid $8,000 for this.”

I think it’s up to the bride and her mother I wouldn’t car if my mother wore a wedding dress just as long she was there at my wedding 🙂
