But insiders revealed that the monarch is ‘happy’ that his beloved son, Prince Harry, will attend the event next month.

In a statement on Wednesday, Buckingham Palace announced that it was ‘pleased to confirm’ the Duke of Sussex will be in attendance.

However, the Duchess of Sussex will stay at their Montecito home with Lilibet, 1, and Archie, whose fourth birthday is on the same day as the coronation.

Royal experts said that the decision is an ‘ideal compromise’ which would leave the Royal family ‘relieved’ but others branded the decision as a ‘snub’ after the monarch accompanied the former actress down the aisle when she tied the knot with his son.

A royal expert has previously claimed that Meghan will have the ‘perfect excuse’ not to attend as Archie’s birthday happens to fall on the same day as the King’s Coronation.

Speaking to GB News, Royal expert Charles Rae said: “Let’s not forget that Meghan has a perfect excuse not to turn up. On the same day, it is the fourth birthday of little Archie.

“So, it may well be that she’ll stay behind and enjoy the celebrations with her son.”

He continued: “There is an argument that says Harry and Meghan should be there.

“Then, there also an argument that says they shouldn’t be there because of what’s happened in the past, the continual sniping at other members of the family.”

Mr. Rae described it as a ‘thorny subject’ but added that the King ‘wants his son to be there’ because ‘he is his son.’
