‘My Husband LEAVES Our Son Alone In The Bath Because He Wants To Watch TV – Am I The One In The Wrong For Getting Mad At Him?’

A mother has shared how she was left furious after finding out that her husband leaves their 4-year-old son in the bath so he can watch TV.

It is important to supervise young children when they are taking a bath as most bathtub drownings happen when a child is left unattended even for a short period.

Sharing her frustration on Reddit, the mother explained that she believes their son should always be supervised but her husband ‘think it’s fine’ to leave him for a few minutes.

“Would you leave your four year old alone in the bathtub to play on their own?” she asked Reddit users.

“My husband thinks it’s fine to leave our son in the bath alone while he watches a show or basketball or whatever.

“I don’t think it’s okay. I think it’s a great time to practice numbers, letter sounds, race his small cars around the tub, etc. We split bath time. He does it one night and I do it the next and so on. Thoughts?”

Reddit users were quick to share their thoughts and many shared heartbreaking stories, with one parent commenting: “Not in a million years, friend’s kid died from this a few years ago.”

Another said: “Absolutely not, that is irresponsible.”

A third said: “I felt comfortable stepping away for a few moments at that age, but I had my daughter sing until I got back. If she stopped singing, I got back immediately. No way would I leave her by herself to go to another room for an extended amount of time.”

Someone else added: “I did this with my kids, but we’d do ‘Marco Polo’. I’d leave to the other room and let them play in a shallow bubble bath with their toys. Every few minutes I’d holler Marco and they would return a Polo and continue on.”
