A couple from Missouri has opened up about the time a bakery’s mistake resulted in their gender reveal fail.

Alyssa Quintos and her husband Christian were over the moon when they found out they were expecting their first baby.

To celebrate the good news, the couple decided to immortalize the moment they would learn about their baby’s sex by making a video of themselves cutting into a gender reveal cake.

When the time for the big reveal finally came, Alyssa and Christian excitedly cut off two big slices of cake only to find out that the filling in the middle was white rather than blue or pink.

The couple’s baffled reaction to the gender-neutral cake has since gone viral on social media where the video racked up over 30 million views.

In the short clip, the parents-to-be are seen overjoyed while cutting into their cake until their expression changes into that of pure shock and disbelief when the middle of the dessert is exposed.

As Alyssa admitted, the failed gender reveal made her break into tears. She also revealed that she complained to the bakery about the mistake and received a replacement cake in return.

“I swear to God if it’s white this time I’m going to be so mad,” the young woman said as she and Christian got ready for the ‘take two’ of the gender reveal.

Fortunately, the second attempt went without an issue and the pair discovered they were expecting a baby boy.

“It was just an honest mistake. They were so apologetic about it, they made it right, they made me a new cake as soon as they could the next day and they didn’t charge me for it,” Alyssa explained as she reflected on the incident.

She also insisted that she managed to laugh it off though the mistake initially left her in tears.

“I didn’t get my money back for the first one, which I understand, but I also ate it because it tasted good,” Alyssa added.
