A mother was left in tears after her son’s 5th birthday party failed because no one showed up.
Mom Dorian and her son Omari were looking forward to the boy’s birthday celebration as they made a reservation at a Chuck E Cheese and planned a day out for the twelve children they invited to the party.
While Omari was looking forward to his party for days, he and his mom were left stunned on the day of the celebration after not even one of his classmates showed up.
According to Dorian, what’s even worse is that only one of the parents of the twelve children bothered to let her know their son couldn’t make it before the event.
She also claimed that she spent nearly $400 on a venue package that included two hours of playtime for the children and gift bags.
“It’s devastating and traumatic. When I was his age my mum threw me a party every year and people came,” the mom expressed.
“It is hard because you need to be strong in front of your children. He is a really great kid and I just want him to be happy.”
The upset mother added: “He was alright though, I let him stay up past his bedtime, and he was on a sugar high from the cake.”
The sad story has since been making rounds on the internet where thousands of viewers sympathized with the mother and her son.
“What type of parent does this? If I’ve been invited and said I’m going to a party, then I’m going. Especially a child’s party,” someone wrote.
“This is exactly why we stopped doing parties and we do family outings. All that money you spend on parties, you can make memories and do something fun they’ll enjoy for their birthday,” another said.
A third fumed: “Wtf is wrong with people!? Absolutely unacceptable! So sorry you had to deal with this.”
