Arnold Schwarzenegger has paid a heartbreaking tribute to his fellow action star Bruce Willis after the ‘Die Hard’ star stepped away from acting.

In 2022, Bruce had initially been diagnosed with aphasia – a language disorder caused by damage in a certain part of the brain that controls comprehension and language expression. The condition leaves a person unable to properly communicate with others.

But his wife, Emma Heming Willis, confirmed that the star was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia after his condition worsened.

After The Sixth Sense actor ended his more than four-decade acting career, Schwarzenegger has now spoken out about his respect for his fellow actor and friend.

Speaking to CinemaBlend, The Terminator star said: “I think that he’s fantastic. He … is a huge, huge star. And I think that he will always be remembered as a great, great star, and a kind man.”

He also said that he understands why Willis decided to step away from acting because of his health and circumstances, but added: “In general, you know, we never retire. Action heroes, they reload.”

In February, Emma revealed that her husband had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and said that his symptoms worsened after they first announced that he was diagnosed with aphasia.

“Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces. While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis,” she said at that time.

“Bruce always believed in using his voice in the world to help others, and to raise awareness about important issues both publicly and privately.”

Emma continued: “We know in our hearts that – if he could today – he would want to respond by bringing global attention and a connectedness with those who are also dealing with this debilitating disease and how it impacts so many individuals and their families.”
