Taylor Swift’s fans were left in shock after the Shake It Off hitmaker swallowed a bug during her recent concert.
The 33-year-old pop icon was performing at Soldier Field in Chicago as part of her Eras Tour on Sunday when her performance was suddenly interrupted by a coughing episode.
Swiftly turning away from the audience, the singer began coughing uncontrollably, bringing the show to a temporary stop and leaving the concertgoers baffled.
Before resuming the show, Taylor addressed her fans and revealed that her coughing was caused by a bug that ended up in her throat while she was singing.
“I swallowed a bug. I’m so sorry,” she said, drawing laughter and sighs of relief from the audience. “Totally fine. It’s just dumb. It’s so stupid.”
Poking fun at her own expense, the multiple time Grammy winner added: “Oh, delicious. Is there any chance that none of you saw that?
“It’s fine. I’ve swallowed it. So, I’m just going to try to not do as many of those. This is going to happen again tonight. There’s so many bugs. There’s a thousand of them.”
The news comes as a source close to the singer confirmed that she and The 1975 frontman Matt Healy split up after just two months of dating.
“She and Matty are madly in love. It’s super-early days, but it feels right. They first dated, very briefly, almost ten years ago but timings just didn’t work out,” an insider said last month after the couple were first spotted together.
“Taylor and Joe actually split up back in February, so there was absolutely no crossover. Both Matty and Taylor have been touring over the past few weeks, so it’s been a lot of Face-Timing and texting but she cannot wait to see him again.”
Despite staying close to each other and appearing at numerous concerts side by side, Taylor and Matt have since parted ways for undisclosed reasons.
