A mass shooting in Louisville, Kentucky has left five people dead and several others injured.
According to a recently conducted press conference by the Kentucky governor, it was revealed how nine people were currently battling for their lives in the hospital as a result of the incident.
Governor Andy Beshear mentioned how two of the five killed were very close to him as he could be seen fighting back tears while providing an update on the devastating situation that unfolded this morning.
He went on to add that another one also did not make it while a third happened to be in the hospital fighting for his life.
The situation unfolded when a disgruntled employee who appeared to be from a bank opened fire on several people working inside. And that is what resulted in this tragic situation unfolding.
Meanwhile, the employees from the bank claim they all reported to work on time at 8:30 and that’s when they reported seeing a man carrying an AR-15 style. The sight sparked worry and concern so they all opted to hide inside the bank’s vault as they feared for their lives.
One of the employees called up her husband and told him to inform 911 for assistance. But it was just too late as the shooter went crazy and started spraying bullets in all directions.
A total of five people died, four of them were reported to be bank employees. The fifth was the gunman himself. But it’s not yet clear if the shooter took his own life or was killed by the officers arriving at the scene who tried to take matters under their control and free the hostages at the site.
While the situation does appear to be under control, authorities are still exercising precautions and requesting citizens to stay away from the 300 block of East Main Street.
