Rachel McAdams has sparked a heated debate after proudly flaunting her hairy underarms in a photoshoot for Bustle.
Inspiring body positivity and acceptance of body hair, the 44-year-old ‘The Notebook’ and ‘Mean Girls’ actress refused to share her armpits as she showed off her natural beauty in a stunning shoot for a magazine.
According to Bustle, McAdams not only displayed her hairy underarms without a second doubt but also requested minimal editing done on her photos.
“With this shoot, I’m wearing latex underwear. But I’ve had two children. This is my body, and I think that’s so important to reflect back out to the world,” the actress said.
“It’s OK to look your best and work at it and be healthy, but that’s different for everyone.”
After the photoshoot, however, people were left divided by the message Rachel was trying to send to the world.
Critics of the actress quickly took the opportunity to slam McAdams’ display of body hair and accuse her of being “manly” and “gross.”
“I can never look at you the same way again. Absolutely gross,” someone said.
“Sorry but it’s a big turn off to see hairy armpits on a woman,” another raged.
A third wrote: “I cannot sleep. Having nightmares about Rachel McAdams’ armpit hair.”
A fourth added: “I’d vomit if my wife had armpit hair like this.”
While plenty of people agreed that the actress has made a terrible mistake in her mission to promote body positivity, some fans rushed to her aid and thanked her for being herself.
“I wish more celebs would be this comfortable in their bodies,” someone said in support of the Canadian actress.
“If you’re genuinely pissed off about Rachel McAdams showing her armpit hair in her most recent shoot, you should crawl back under the cold rock from which you came from,” another added.
A third wrote: “Powerful. Amazing. Stunning. Brave.”

I applaud her for being natural. Too many of our young girls are depressed and getting dangerous plastic surgery trying to look like celebrities who really are getting photoshop, filters, etc.
BTW who made the rule women have to shave?.
She looks fantastic. Everyone criticizing her here is a loser.
I’ve always thought Rachel McAdams is one of the most naturally beautiful actresses. I didn’t think she could be more beautiful, but she wears her confidence in her own skin like a sexy warrior queen.
More power to her
