Kevin Costner and wife Christine Baumgartner are reportedly parting ways after 18 years of marriage.

The 68-year-old actor and his 49-year-old fashion designer and model wife are splitting due to “irreconcilable differences” after welcoming three children – Grace, 12, Hayes, 14, and Cayden, 15 – throughout their 18-year marriage.

A representative for Costner also suggested that the actor feels greatly saddened and that the decision to separate was made by his wife.

“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action,” the statement read.

Baumgartner and Costner met in 2000 before tying the knot at the actor’s ranch in Aspen, Colorado, four years later.

“We ask that his, Christine’s and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time,” the rep’s message added.

The news comes shortly after sources suggested that the future of the hit series Yellowstone was uncertain after an alleged dispute between its main star, Costner, and the creator, Taylor Sheridan.

“Kevin will forever be proud of and grateful for Yellowstone and the cast is like family to him. He just felt like Yellowstone is headed in a direction that was not in line with their initial vision and he was met with criticism, including that he should just stick to acting,” a source said.

The insider also claimed that Costner was told to back down after voicing his concerns about the show’s future due to his position as an executive producer.

“It’s the same as with any show runner and big star — there’s respect, but there’s friction,” another source said last month after rumors that Costner was taking a step back from Yellowstone.
