The family of the woman who claimed to be missing Madeleine McCann has spoken out after the DNA results came in.
21-year-old Julia Wendell from Poland has sparked fresh interest in the case of missing child Madeleine McCann, who disappeared from her parents’ hotel room back in 2007, after saying she believed she could be Maddie.
Causing a social media uproar, Julia flew to the States to talk to Dr. Phil after saying she feared for her safety and suggesting she might have been kidnapped by her parents.
The claim that Julia is Madeleine has since been refuted when the young woman received the results of her DNA test.
While Julia already returned to Poland, she is allegedly not staying with her parents who are said to be upset by the high-profile allegations.
“Julia is a very disturbed young woman. Her mother Dorota is just beside herself, she can’t believe how this has snowballed, Julia is very sick and Dorata just wants her to get the help she needs,” a family friend told MailOnline.
“It was clear from the beginning that Julia was not Madeleine and Dorota is furious that this so-called doctor exploited the illness of a very young woman.”
The source went on to reveal that Dorota, Julia’s mother, is “mortified by all this publicity” and that she wants Julia home where the family can get her “the treatment that she needs.”
It was also revealed that Dorota and Julia moved into a wealthy Polish suburb after the former split from her daughter’s biological father.
Dorota has since been known as a successful businesswoman who runs a series of clothes stores in the area.
