Cher has reportedly split from her toyboy four decades her junior after more than six months of dating.
The 76-year-old pop singer and actress was in a relationship with 37-year-old music executive Alexander ‘AE’ Edwards for half a year before the couple decided to part ways a few weeks ago.
The news of the split was confirmed by TMZ who cited a source with knowledge of the pair and their romance.
While it remains unclear who initiated the breakup, sources insisted that the couple were never engaged despite rumors claiming Cher and AE were ready to tie the knot and settle down.
The speculation began after the singer shared a photo showing her flaunting a massive diamond ring that was given to her by her boyfriend.
As it happens, however, the ring was nothing more than a gift of love.
Both Cher and Edwards have so far remained quiet about the split and have yet to comment on the situation.
The couple previously met during Paris Fashion Week in September 2022. It is not clear when exactly they began dating but they were first spotted together in November the same year when they were holding hands outside Craig’s in West Hollywood.
At one point, Edwards gently kissed the singer’s hand and gave her all the attention as they were seated in a car.
Cher later opened up about her unconventional relationship and admitted it looked kind of “ridiculous” on the paper because of their age gap.
“Well, on paper it’s kind of ridiculous. But in real life we get along great. He’s fabulous and I don’t give men qualities that they don’t deserve,” Cher said back in December.
“He’s very smart, he’s very talented and he’s really funny so – and I think he’s quite handsome.”
She added: “If I hadn’t met younger men in my life, I would have never had a date, because older men just didn’t like me all that much, do you know what I mean?”
