A four-month-old baby was found safe in a tree after a catastrophic tornado destroyed their family home in Tennessee.
Sydney Moore, 22, had just put her children down for a nap when the tornado tore through Clarksville on December 9.
She and her fiancé, Aramis Youngblood, were in the living room of their home when they heard a crashing sound that the mother described as like a plane flying over them.
The couple rushed to save their young sons, Princeton, 1, who was asleep in a bedroom, and Lord, 4 months, who was sleeping in a bassinet near the front of their mobile home.
“As soon as I jumped on top of Princeton, the back bedroom, the walls collapsed,” Moore said during an interview with Good Morning America.
“I remember me and Princeton got thrown onto the ground and then we got picked up and thrown down again, but he never left my arms. And somehow, someway, I still had his pacifier clenched in my hands.”
Moore said that as she shielded Prinston, Youngblood ran to the front of their home to get Lord but they were swept away by the tornado.
“The bassinet was the first thing to go,” she said.
Youngblood was left injured after being thrown by the tornado but they couldn’t find their youngest son. After searching the area for 10 minutes, Lord was found safe in a tree.
“It was just like he was placed in a tree, like a little tree cradle for a baby,” Moore expressed.
“It was like a cubby hole in a tree, at the bottom.”
Moore also revealed that it felt like she was watching a film when she saw Youngblood carrying their youngest son back.
“I saw him walking through the woods, carrying Lord in the pouring down rain, and all of his clothes were ripped,” she said of the father.
“It was like a scene in movie.”
Moore’s sister, Caitlyn, setup a GoFundMe page to help the family recover and it has raised more than $95,000.
