Barbie has always been the most favorite dolls of most of us as kids.
It is not just because we loved dolls but because Barbie dolls are not just dolls, they are pieces of art.
There have always been these white skinned charming dolls with beautiful long blond hair, perfect lips, blushed cheeks, etc. Yes, people loved the white skin doll but for the first time ever Barbie is releasing a Maori doll on a New Zealand journalist.
The doll holds a mic in its hand to depicts the perfection of the journalist. The doll has brown skin and curly hair that adds more charm to the new piece.
Barbie has been inspired to make their dolls on people and this time on the occasion of International Women’s Day they took Ms. Robinson to be among the 20 women who had a Barbie doll made on them as a part of women’s day celebration. Besides, she is the first one from her country to have this privilege.
She expressed her proud moment on Instagram with a picture captioned “Seriously cool to be selected to inspire young girls with the first ever New Zealand Barbie – she’s Maori and a commentator!”
Ms. Robinson has always been an inspiring woman as she was an international women rugby player. She won 2 rugby world cups with the team of New Zealand called the Black Ferns. She then changed her field from playing sports to reporting about it.
the National President of the Maori Women’s Welfare League, Prue Kapua said that Barbie’s decision to make Maori Barbie doll is a great motivation and positivity initiating step for the girls of the community.
She said “The fact that there is a Maori Barbie doll will hopefully encourage younger girls to know more about our culture and Maori people. Although, we do have our own dolls depicting the women of the tribe but it is the first time an international brand has come up to our community.
This doll is a part of a role series that have dolls on Yara Shahidi, the tennis player and visual artist Shen Man.
