A jury has taken less than thirty minutes to convict a 26-year-old man of incest with his 3-year-old daughter after he confessed that he mistook his daughter for his 24-year-old wife.

Henry Vincent Bennett was convicted on two counts each of incest, sexual abuse by a parent, and first-degree sexual assault.

Bennett, who had claimed cops pressured him into a false confession, slipped up and repeated his confession in front of the panel.

Prosecutor George Sitler told WVVA, “It’s a TV moment. It’s a thing that happens on crime shows like Perry Mason.”

“You wait your whole career to get somebody to actually confess to what they’re accused of on the stand, and this is the first time I’ve ever seen it happen,” the prosecutor continued.

The father was first arrested in February after his child told family members and state child safety workers that she had been abused by her father.

At one point, the girl made a model of a penis out of Play-Doh and said it was her father’s butt. She then said that her father had put his ‘butt’ on her ‘butt’, testified by a child advocacy worker, Cindy Lambert.

When police brought Bennett in for questioning, the father denied sexually assaulting his daughter. He eventually confessed to sexually assaulting her on two occasions: once involving oral sex and once involving a sex toy.

Bennett claimed both incidents were accidents as they happened when his daughter crawled into the bed and he mistook the 30-pound girl for his 185-pound wife.

Both Bennett and his wife were arrested as April Bennett took a deal pleading guilty to a charge of child neglect.
