The news of Garcia and Martin’s split up first hit the headlines last year after the man said he wanted to focus on becoming the best Call of Duty player he can be.

“Fam I’m not trying to be an asshole, but you had one of the most attractive women in the world fall in love with you and chose video games over her,” one person said after the news went viral.

“It’s called a work-life balance and clearly you’ve devoted all your time to ‘work’ and will eventually regret it one day,” another one wrote.

Nevertheless, some people defended the gamer’s decision and praised him for choosing career over romance.

Now, Martin himself has spoken out and defended his life-changing decision.

“My parents were concerned because I didn’t kiss a girl throughout high school. To me, it was more important to be #1 in the world in Call of Duty, that opportunity wouldn’t always be there. Glad I made that decision,” the gamer wrote in a tweet.
