Rob Edwards was very thrilled to see his son’s graduation.
There is no doubt that the boy, Cole, was happy but his father was even happier.
The father was so proud of his son that he found himself sharing the incredible news with strangers. But Rob never could’ve expected the heartwarming reaction he received.
A few hours before the graduation ceremony, Rob visited a local bank to conduct some business. He then happened to be walking into the building at the same time as a woman, so he kept the door opened for her.
The woman waited for the father to fall in line ahead of her but he insisted that she enter the line first.
Speaking about the incident, Rob told FaithTap: “I said, ‘By all means go in front of me. Today my son graduates. I’m slowing down and want to savor every minute.’”
The woman then agreed to take his place in line.
While waiting for the next available bank tellers, they had a nice conversation. Their chats then shifted from talking about their days to the difficulties of raising teenagers.
A bank teller became available so the woman went to the counter. Rob was next and he also approached a teller’s booth.
When he checked where his wallet had been sitting, he found a white envelope sitting on it. He was perplexed when he saw it, and then the stranger he just met walked past him.
“Congratulations!” she expressed. “I’m so happy for you.”
Rob smiled and continued his business with the teller, still curious about the little envelope. It wasn’t until his transaction was completed that he opened the white container.
Inside was a crisp $50 bill.
Rob immediately ran outside to find the woman who gave the envelope and he spotted her in her car. He tried to give the money back but the woman refused.
The father would never forget the words she said: “When you talk about your boy, YOU GLOW. You’re a blessing to him, I want to bless him, too!”
Rob said: “I don’t know her name; I’ve never seen her before. But I will never forget her love. I asked to take a picture with her. And hugged her neck.
“We need more of this in the world today. Not the money. But kindness. I hugged a complete stranger today. My son who I love with all my heart was shown love. Many of you who know me know what I believe in. Sounds kinda familiar don’t it. It warms the father’s heart to love the son. I am blessed.”
