Dogs are our best friends and most loyal companions that proudly stand by our side.
They can protect us, make us laugh, and accompany us on our journeys. Sometimes, however, it is time for humans to become dogs’ best friends and assist them with their struggles.
One family shared photos of their dog eating her meal while standing upright in a special chair. According to the caption of the gif that spread over the internet, “this dog has a digestive issue so his family made him a chair so that he can actually eat.”
Doug and Grace Jones confirmed the story and explained that their dog, Daisy, had been diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune disease that causes skeletal muscle weakness.
As the vets suggest, this disease led to the dog’s megaesophagus, also known as an enlarged esophagus, a condition that makes it hard for the esophagus to push the ingested food towards the stomach due to its wide structure.
Following the diagnosis, the vets suggested Doug and Grace to build Bailey Chair, a specially designed mechanism that assists dogs suffering from this condition.
After the chair was built, Daisy could finally start enjoying her meals without food returning to her mouth. She was seen sitting in a comfortable position that is similar to the position humans eat in.
Unfortunately, sweet Daisy passed away on Christmas Eve. Their owners shared a heartbreaking notice of the passing on social media where they wrote:
“It’s taken me a couple of weeks to be able to write this. My Daisy passed away on Christmas Eve morning. We are heartbroken.
“We are grateful to have had 16 additional months with her after her diagnosis and are grateful for the suggestions and support we received from this group. My vet has her chair which will be used by a local pup.”
