Corporal punishments like paddling misbehaving students in schools was a common thing for teachers and principals but many were against it.

According to the Texas Classroom Teachers Association (TCTA), corporal punishment means “deliberate infliction of physical pain by hitting, paddling, spanking, slapping, or any other physical force used as a means of discipline.”

The school district wants to bring back paddling as punishment in schools to discipline misbehaving kids. The Three Rivers Independent School District has asked parents to sign up for paddling which requires both written and verbal consent.

Parents can also opt out of paddlings if they don’t want their kids to be paddled.

According to Three Rivers Superintendent Mary Springs: “If the parent is not comfortable with it, that’s the end of the discussion.”

You may get surprised that most parents are actually in favour of this decision as this will help kids to learn how to behave.

But, many are still against it as one said:

“Do a little research on kids who were spanked and see that they are much more likely to end up in prison than kids who were disciplined with other methods. Paddling has no place in any school or home.”

Another wrote: “If anyone ever touched my kid, I would beat them senseless. Nope, no way. I would pay for private school.”
