A man was in for a big shock as he made a trip to the bathroom only to spot a giant iguana in his toilet bowl.
58-year-old John Riddle from Hollywood, Florida, received a nasty surprise as he attempted to use his bathroom only to realize that it was already occupied by an angry, hissing iguana that didn’t care for his company.
According to the shocked homeowner, the reptile hissed and turned its head towards him when he entered the bathroom and took a picture of the invader.
“I walked in my bathroom and found Godzilla in my toilet. He didn’t seem at all pleased and started splashing and hissing at me,” John said.
“I guess I won’t be leaving the door open for the dogs anymore,” he added.
After the scary encounter, John used his pool net to safely remove the giant lizard from the toilet and release it into the wild.
The reptiles, whose origins are in Central America, have continued growing in numbers in Florida after first appearing in the state back in the 1960s.
Though loved by many, iguanas have been blamed for power outages and causing damage to buildings in recent years. Wildlife experts have also warned that these animals may transmit salmonella and that they are responsible for erosion near canals and water systems.
As it happens, however, iguanas aren’t necessarily the worst kind of uninvited guests that may end up in your home.
Snake hunter and reptile wrangler Mark Pelley recently took the internet by surprise as he shared a video showing just how easy it was for a snake to slither its way into a house by flattening itself and squeezing its body through the gap underneath the door.
“I’m frequently asked how snakes enter the house, so I thought I’d show you,” the Aussie snake hunter wrote.
“Eastern brown snakes — even a large one like this — have the ability to flatten themselves out and gradually squeeze under tiny gaps under doors.”
The clip quickly went viral with thousands of people sharing their disbelief over how easy it was for the reptile to get inside the house.
